Mothers' day

"Never being able to say the word 'Mummy' again in your life sounds like a small thing. However, for many, including me, it is now really just a word – hollow and evoking only memories,"

Purple Gift Box

Happy 21st Birthday Adeline!
Did this cake for her on the 2apr, had a surprise party for her at east coast park! All well planned by her dearest, Clarence! The cake is 3D gift box. Purple is Ade's fav colour! One of her reactions was " Wow! My fav colour! "
This is a 2 tier cake, 6" and 8". Top tier is lemon, bottom is chocolate. I love the lemon cake which i came up with!  Love it! During holidays i will try to improve many other flavours recipes! The chocolate cake was yummy too! The taste was a little more on the dark side, i wonder is it because of the different chocolate i used. Anyway, The cake was well received! Ade's friends were all so supportive. (:
I kept forgetting to weight my cake. This cake looks small, but i think it is pretty heavy? My arms were complaining after holding for just 5 mins? Or rather, my arms are weak. It ached on the night.. I guess it is time to exercise! I must remember to stretch around, especially when i am doing cakes. I always end up with stiff shoulders after decorating cakes. Okay, good bye!

Shin Chan

HAPPY 12th BIRTHDAY XUEZHONG!!
2nd april was a very busy day. Had to complete two rather big cakes, and attend two birthday parties. It was an almost sleepless night! Panda eyes. ): He initially wanted a Shin Chan cake, but i thought it will be difficult and time consuming to do the figurine! So i suggested a 3d spongebob cake. But as the date drew nearer, i realised i will not have enough time to do the spongebob cake. I was fretting over the design for this cake for awhile, then... I saw one of my cake decorating friend's photo on facebook! She tooked up a few diploma class, and the latest one i saw was about chocolate drawing! Tada! I decided to use chocolate to draw out the SHIN CHAN, since this was the original cartoon he wanted! He loved this cartoon since he was young, and i was surprised that he still liked!
My white chocolate dried very fast after coloring it. I did the image the night before to let the outline(Dark chocolate) set completely. When i transfered the chocolate over to the cake, i realised that there were several holes on the underneadth, most probably because my white chocolate wasnt liquid enough to flow. Also, the fragile parts like the hands and legs cracked. So i quickly melted more white chocolate to cover it up since my outline was already done! The white chocolate was better, so it flowed pretty well to cover up the spot. 2/3 of the cake was lemon flavour and 1/3 was chocolate. I wanted to add in more varieties.

See how ugly the cake became... His mum friends wanted to smash XZ's head into the cake, but she warn them many many times not to do it because it was my effort! Her friends then tried to use a small part of the cake to smear on XZ's face. But when they put their hand to the cake, trying to get the "cream" they stunned! Hahaha, the cake doesnt have any cream! If only i was fast enough to take picture of them reactions.. Hahahaha. So they ended up trying to stick the fondant onto XZ's face. Shin Chan's shirt came off while cutting, because the chocolate was a whole piece on its own!  The cake was well received, especially by my family! They were so supportive, i guess after seeing my improvements. I remembered in the past, they will always have many things to say about the cake, to give me some comments to improve. But sometimes, i ended up being upset and disappointed with myself. But this time, with their support i feel more confident about my cakes! Yayness.

Bernadette's Sugar Cookies

After finishing my Stitch cake order, and delivering it, hurry had to start on my cookies! Luckily my sister was around to help me. We had fun decorating the cookies for Bernadette! Sugar overload as they are covered with royal icing! Spent the whole afternoon doing it.
Played around with a few of my dust! Loved the outcome! I think i will spend more money getting different dust!
Holidays, can you hurry come please! So i can work and buy more things, and take in more orders!

2 Cake Orders

Two friends ordered cakes from me! So happy. But they are due on the same day, so i spent the whole day with my decorating tools. These are the results.
My friend, being part of the NTU floorball team ordered this cake for her team. She wanted a simple cake, so i suggested a jersey cake. I followed accordingly to the colour of their jersey, which was red. I had a hard time covering the cake, but i really love how it turn out. It was nicely covered. Super proud of myself. Since it is for a group of girls, i wanted to make boobs. My friend was so excited about it, she even wanted a D size boobs! Does this look D size to you? This cake was a chocolate cake with ganache, 8inch. After cutting up the cake, i used the remaining and made them into blocks, and pasted "BIMBOS!" on as requested by my friend.
The second cake i made was for a friend's friend's 21st! My friend organized a surprise party for her friend and ordered a cake for me. I deviated from the original design i had in mind, but still happy that it turn out well. I brushed "21" with glitter, which made it bling bling as the bday's girl likes bling bling stuff!

Castle cake: Important lesson Learnt

I am thankful to see her smile.
Ever since i started baking, i had been planning to make a very beautiful cake. But every year
i failed, and she was disappointed. This year, i was so excited with many ideas, i decided to make a castle cake for her, since she is the little princess in the family. But...
She requested for her fav flavour, chocolate banana cake. I agreed and made it accordingly, using WHIPPED CREAM. I remembered that whipped cream cannot touch fondant, as it will melt the fondant. I thought i was smart enough to coat the cake with ganache so the fondant isnt touching the whipped cream. As i finished decorating the cake after about 4 hours.. i started to realised the cake looks weirder each time. The fondant was looking more like marshmallow? Crumpled kind? Then. It suddenly hit me that the whipped cream needs to be refrigerated, while the fondant cannot. At that  moment, i felt like shooting myself. The whipped cream was getting softer each minute. The worst mistake i made, was to put the whole cake into the fridge. I thought that after taking out from the fridge, i can put it into the aircon room and blow for many
hours and the fondant will harden. But... IT DID NOT!!! When the cake was brought to the place for my mei mei to cut, the whole cake just...
looked like this...
Imagine the disappointment? I was so regretful, and blaming myself. I quickly did another cake, for her to cut it the next day, which was her actual birthday. But.. it was a simple celebration at home. I am sure she will be beaming with happiness if the cake wasnt destroyed, as everyone tells her how pretty her cake it. Is okay, she was still happy with the second cake i made her.
I most probably just ruined my own reputation as a baker, but this is an important lesson for me. Which i will not do again. Please appreciate the photos below.

Lego Cake

My lego cake!!! The quality of my photos are kinda bad, iphone camera kinda suck! My friend from school ordered this cake for one of her friend's 21st. Was so excited about this cake, i kept planning and thinking about it during school time. Haha. I really sat down and dedicated my time to this cake. I hoped i can make someone 21st special! (*I am 21st this year too!! ) Everything is edible, all mould out using fondant! I used Chocolate Mud cake, which i really loved eating! Especially if you heat up and topped it with icecream or whipped cream.  Rich dense chocolate cake.. Yummy! Orders orders? ^^
Valentine's day is coming, i am thinking of selling cookies. Shall do up the designs soon!decided not to, due to the lack of time!
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Tiffany and Co Box

In addition to my animal cupcakes, i spent my that weekend doing a tiffany and co cake and a Lego theme cake! Been wanting to do some luxury brand cake, especially excited to do bag cakes. Will attempt it when i have time. Did this cake for one of my cousin's birthday. She together with another two cousins bought me a ticket to SS3 which i am so thankful about. Couldn't think about what present to get for her, so i felt that using a cake can express my feelings! I only managed to take one picture of it, and kitty packed the cake. Ohhh, and i didnt get to cut the cake with her too.. But i know she liked it! :D
Everything was made of fondant, and i used pearl dust to dust onto the bracelet to make it look like pearl bracelet! Very happy that i managed to get the colour similar to the Tiff's colour. And so proud that my ribbon actually looked like a ribbon. Hee hee. Happy happy! My sister loves this cake! Anyone interested in ordering?

Animal Cupcakes

My dear friend wanted a 3d standing giraffe cake. OMG, i dont think i have that skill. But because of her request, i have been thinking about sculptured cakes. During holidays, i will try to do more research about it. Maybe one day i will really be able to do a standing 3d cake. I just did within my limits, and decorated some cupcakes for her. I brought it to a party at her house, and hopefully everyone enjoyed it. :) The cupcakes were cookies and cream flavor, i didnt put on any frosting. The faces of the cupcakes were made from fondant.
